This is the first in a series of children’s short stories about the animals in a village somewhere in England. They are based in an innocent, timeless age, where animals could talk and all problems of the world were solved by simply getting together and coming up with, sometimes outlandish, solutions. The animals are imaginary, and with names such as The Wizzy Womby, Mr. Huffelplank and the Hippoglorious you can conjure up some amazing creatures in your mind.
These stories were made up on the spot by my father, Peter Lomas, when demanded by his children. Peter Lomas has already published a large number of technical books on psychotherapy so these stories are a big departure.
They were first recorded on an old tape recorder in the 1960s and then transcribed onto a mechanical typewriter and only very faint carbon copies existed. It has been a labour of love to retype the stories and I hope that someone will enjoy them as much as much as Peter's children, Sally, Jon (me) and Tim have done over the years. I also have audio recordings which bring the stories to life and I hope to bring these to the party as well at some point.
